World Packaging Organization (WPO) selects winners of WorldStar Awards 2019 in Jinan, China

November 2018 – Representatives from 20 packaging associations, members of WPO (World Packaging Organisation –, met in Jinan the week commencing 22 October for the 2nd Board Meeting of 2018 and for the judging of the WorldStar Packaging Awards, the most important and well recognized packaging award in the globe. The judging session took place as part of the 101st WPO Board Meeting activities and were kindly hosted by CEPI - China National Export Commodities Packaging Research Institute.
There were judged 319 packaging projects, from 35 countries, that entered the WorldStar Awards 2019. The number of winners, by category, was: Beverages 45 (out of 74 entries); Electronics 5 (7 entries);  Food 38 (56 entries); Health & Personal Care 11 (32 entries); Household 9 (13 entries); Labelling & Decoration 3 ( 5 entries); Luxury 5 (out of 10), Medical & Pharmaceutical 11 (out of 13 entries); Other 22 (29 entries), Packaging Materials & Components 14 (31 entries); Point of Sale 9 (out of 14) and Transit 18 (out of 35).  

Well done to Japan for taking the highest number of WorldStars – 26; closely followed by Turkey taking 22 and China, 21.   All winners will be posted at the week commencing 4 December and winners will be notified individually. The candidates for the Special Award categories - Sustainability, Marketing, Packaging that Saves Food and President´s Award - will be announced in January. All winners will be recognised in an Awards Ceremony and Gala Evening on May 15, 2019, in Prague, Czech Republic, as part of the 1st WPO Board Meeting´s program.
To be eligible to enter WorldStar Awards the packaging must be a winner in a national or multi-national competition that is recognised by WPO. A list of recognised competitions can be found at
