The packaging for "DULCIA - protective cream with SPF" was the first project, which RORI packaging executed for the company DULICA Natural s.r.o.. The client wished to improve the appearance, quality and functionality of the previously existing box. Our packaging is fully printed and enhanced using digital technologies. Moreover, digital technology also enabled us to provide the customer with Mock-ups, i.e. fully finished packaging prototypes, which allowed the customer to assess whether the proposed effects and refinements fully satisfied his expectations before proceeding to final production. This was particularly important due to the fact that the client, for the first time, desired to produce packaging on metallised cardboard, which subtly alters the shades of the selected colours. Digital technology also allowed us to fully enhance the Mock-ups, ensuring that the prototypes looked like the final packaging.
The client received a full-size Mock-up digitally printed on metallised cardboard using an HP Indigo 30000 printer, and finished with a matt laminate. The company logo and selected graphic elements were distinguished using 3D digital ‘varnishing’ applied by a Scodix Ultra machine. Same technologies were used for final production.
The owners of Dulcia were very impressed with our proposal. They were particularly enchanted by the combination of metallic effects and the use of 3D digital enhancements. Selected effects added flair and allowed to feature very fine graphic elements. This would have been very difficult to achieve with traditional technologies. The digitally enhanced logo, leaves and flowers became tangible, adding a fine texture to the packaging, while the digital glossing of selected elements helps to realise that one is dealing with a high-quality product. The resulting impression immediately places both the packaging and the product in the premium category, which is what the owners of the brand desired.
The use of digital technology in combination with metallized cardboard noticably speeds up the production process and eliminates the need to order embossing and hot-stamping moulds, saving the customer additional costs.
What also draws attention is the original shape of the packaging, which allows the product to stand out in the competitive market environment. Using the customer's original design, RORI team improved the construction of the packaging. While we retained the unique shape, the structural modification of the box enabled the packaging to be automatically glued, thus having a positive impact on reduction of production time and the price of the packaging.
